Pray for Ukraine

A friend of ours, a brave, faithful, and well educated businessman from Ukraine, has asked his friends here in Shanghai to pray for Ukraine. He and his family have wept over the news coming from his homeland, including the senseless shooting of many citizens who committed no crime but simply showed up to voice their protest over the corruption of their government. When I spoke with him, he was particularly moved by the account of a farmer who came into town to speak out and was shot by one of the dictator’s gunmen.

Those whose rule is based on force and corruption are made nervous by the events in Ukraine, where a great many people are no longer willing to endure corruption and criminality among their top leaders. May they succeed in improving their lot and casting out corrupt politicians who rob, oppress, and kill to grab power and wealth.

I pray that Ukraine may swiftly shake off the corruption that has worn it down so long, and that it may rise with less oppression and a greater degree of liberty for the people. Parliament has taken some bold steps in the past few hours, but so much hangs in the balance. May good come out of this and may the bloodshed cease.

  1. I always pray for opressed people of the world. It was sad to watch Ukraine athletes who were worrying about their friends and family and try to compete at the Olympics, and knowing Russia was behind the violence.
One of my doctors is Russian (now naturalized U.S. citizen) and a great doctor. This doctor has given us some insight of what the Soviet Union was like and what Russia was going through after the fall of communism (that Putin is trying to bring back) and what Russia is like today. It is very educational listening to this doctor, and from her perspective.
Tell your friend there are Americans who are concerned and praying for Ukraine.

  2. I did not know until today that the Ukraine President (the one who fled in the middle of the night) ordered snipers to shoot protesters! I did not know the whole story. I thought people were killed by fighting with soldiers in the streets, not by roof top snipers, picked off one by one. Children to Senior Citizens were murdered by that mad man. He should be brought up on murder charges if he is ever caught.

I wish the the Russian people would protest against what Putin is doing. I can not wrap my brain around the people wanting to return to the Soviet Union ways. But is seems Putin is already almost there and the people are oblivious. Thank goodness for Pussy Riot. All freedom loving people around the world need to support Pussy Riot and their fight against Putin.
