Prepare to Be Deleted….

I’ve had a couple anonymous posters get all upset (what else is new?) when I deleted comments that I found to be off-topic and nasty. Frankly, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed deleting them.

I’m growing weary of anonymous nastiness and really stupid off-topic comments. Anonymous comments will be deleted more frequently from now on, and offensive off-topic comments are always fair game.

It’s so vicious!

I have no fear of truth, but I am annoyed by snarky comments from people who don’t dare identify themselves.

Snip snip! Be warned.

  1. Hey . . .this sounds like a perfectly reasonable New Years’ resolution! Happy New Year, and keep up your great site!

  2. Perhaps the anonymous posters could get their own blog? But what fun would that be? 🙂

    Keep up the good work!

    Happy New Year!

  3. Anonymous means what? Not having a blogger profile? And what is that supposed to prove? I have seen several profiles that list the posters supposed given name and how many people have viewed their profile. That sounds anonymous to me.

  4. You may already know this, but just in case…you can “Enable comment moderation” in your blogger dashboard settings. That way the comment doesn’t show up unless you approve of it first. This is what I did with my blog, not that I get any comments. You get so many though, it might be more work than just deleting the ones you don’t like.

By they way, I just discovered your blog a couple of days ago. It’s great. I like your posts and the comments. You shouldn’t worry so much about silly comments. I think most people who are familiar with LDS Apologetics have seen them all, especially if they frequent the LDS Apologetics discussion forum.

(I’m not trying to tell you what to do. It’s your blog.)

  5. > Anonymous means what?

I think it means not being able to identify which person or people are making comments. Even if all you have is a name, at least you know the personality you’re dealing with after reading their other posts.

  6. Yeah, that’s mostly it – something to let us know who is speaking, even if it’s just a label like RFP or Fifth Nephi.

  7. I support you completely. Also it gets confusing when there are so many anonymous. One could find one arguing with oneself.

  8. good call mormanity. The truth with set us all free, but rediculous comments just to stir up trouble has no place in this blog. I enjoy your blog and will frequent it, thank you for censoring.

  9. My suggestion is to allow comments only from registered users, which would screen out at least some of the “drive by” attack posts and allow you to moderate or ban abusers.
